History Timeline
1999
The school opens its doors
Okufura Secondary School is founded in Arua District with 50 students and a handful of dedicated teachers.
2014
Science laboratories and library
Purpose-built physics, chemistry and biology laboratories open alongside a fully stocked library.
2023
First A-Level intake
The advanced level section is introduced, extending the school from S1 to S6 with Sciences and Arts streams.
2024
Government aided status
The school is granted government aided status, widening access for families across the district.
2025
Twenty five years, 1,000+ learners
Enrolment passes one thousand students as new classroom blocks and dormitories are completed.
2026
A community of over 1,200
Today more than 1,200 learners and 65 qualified teachers sustain a 98% national pass rate.
Founded in 1999, Okufura Secondary School has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected educational institutions in the region. What started as a small community school with just 50 students has evolved into a comprehensive learning centre serving over 1,200 students.
Throughout our journey, we have maintained our commitment to academic excellence while adapting to the changing educational landscape. Our school has expanded significantly, adding new facilities while preserving the values that have made us successful.
Over the years we have produced thousands of successful graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions in medicine, engineering, business, education and public service.
